video production.
This video was created to introduce ourselves and share a glimpse of our lives at TRU. I captured various clips around campus, experimenting with different shots and techniques – such as microphones, wide-shots/closeups, and layering audio. During editing, I focused on incorporating transitions and music without distracting from the video’s message. I studied Media Arts in high school and have some experience in video editing, so it was exciting to have another opportunity to explore my skills.
For this video, we used a selection of clips provided by our professor. While working in Premiere Pro, I had the chance to dive deeper into various editing techniques, such as layering audio and media, experimenting with different transitions, and fine-tuning clip cuts to create a seamless flow. This process allowed me to further develop my skills in video editing and gain a better understanding of the software’s capabilities.
This video is from my final project in senior year of high school – a documentary short about the impact of flooding and fires on rural communities. I directed, filmed, and edited the video, gaining valuable experience in sourcing media independently. Now, as a student in the Communications and Digital Journalism program at TRU, this project helped me discover my passion and clarified my future goals, so I wanted to include it in my portfolio.
